The base compound is optimised for fuel efficiency. All in all, the Conti Urban HA 5 is a tire that lasts longer and consumes less fuel.

With this design we have achieved a far more stable structure with additional strength and stiffness, contributing to excellent durability. Rain and slippery conditions are among the biggest challenges when it comes to road safety. Since safety is our core value, we did not stop until we found a way to improve wet performance throughout the life span of the Conti Urban HA 5. Our method: We took advantage of the fact that full wide sipes become pocket sipes when the centre grooves open. This increases the stiffness of the pattern and compensates for the wet performance lost when the centre groove opens from full wide to pocket sipes. Noise is a nuisance both inside and outside the bus. Reducing noise and improving comfort was another priority when developing the Conti Urban HA 5. To achieve this goal, we used an innovative multi-pitch tread pattern technology that reduces noise perception - positioning the Conti Urban HA 5 for the ambitious A-rating for low noise. Together with perfectly balanced tire structures and compounds, this guarantees a comfortable and smooth ride for people inside the bus and on the streets.
